Navigating Microsoft Copilots to empower your Finance team

Microsoft Copilot products present a significant opportunity for Finance teams seeking greater leverage from AI capabilities. The good news is that Copilot is definitely not the next Clippy (sorry, Marc Benioff). We were initially concerned about this possibility, but after adopting Copilot ourselves since its general availability, we've found that the products are improving at an accelerating pace, and we're realizing more value from them every day.

The main downside of Microsoft’s Copilot strategy is that it can be difficult to navigate, as there are multiple Copilot products and variants. Without clear guidance, it’s easy to miss capabilities or overlook entry points, making it frustrating to reach a point where using them feels natural and worthwhile.

We created an infographic to document our own learnings and help our team and clients accelerate value realization from these tools. It’s especially important for Finance operators to understand the full landscape of AI tools, not just the obvious Copilots like Excel, PowerPoint, or Outlook. For example, Copilot for Power BI and Fabric Data Agents can shift a team from relying entirely on data engineers or report builders to being largely self-sufficient.

We hope this is helpful to others. We'll continue to share more, especially around AI orchestration, as we successfully implement these tools with client teams.
